The study presents an analysis of the impact of the application of the BIM methodology in the design process of social housing in the province of Pastaza, Ecuador. The problem it addresses focuses on the analysis of efficiency and optimization of the processes involved in construction, in a context of limited economic resources and urgent housing needs. A mixed type approach is applied that combines quantitative and qualitative data, surveys and interviews were applied to evaluate the perception of construction professionals. The results reveal a positive perception towards BIM: the majority of participants indicated improvements in efficiency and accuracy in design and construction, as well as greater collaboration between teams and improved communication. Furthermore, it was found that BIM has contributed to customer satisfaction and facilitated the management of the construction process. The main conclusion is that BIM has proven to be an essential methodology for the future of this industry in Ecuador, improving the quality and level of efficiency in the construction process of social housing projects. As future work, it is suggested to explore the long-term impact of BIM, analyze the cost-benefit and study its integration to improve sustainability and energy efficiency in construction projects.
